Start with AG-UI streaming
The AG-UI streaming fixture is a complete React source example under cockpit/ag-ui/streaming/react. It owns a native session and displays an explicitly projected text transcript.
These APIs are experimental, private source-build packages, not a public npm installation recipe. Use Node.js 22 and the root npm lockfile; React 19.2.4 is the tested runtime.
npm ci
npx nx build cockpit-ag-ui-streaming-react
npx nx test cockpit-ag-ui-streaming-reactThe build prepares the private AG-UI runtime and local core, content, and React artifacts. Browser verification is available through npx nx e2e cockpit-ag-ui-streaming-react with the repository's fixture prerequisites.
Follow the source
| File | Responsibility |
|---|---|
connection.ts | Select the shared or developer AG-UI endpoint and validate the private session shape. |
application.ts | Own session lifetime, project text, and decide whether another Send is safe. |
canonical-transcript.ts | Confirm that the terminal root belongs to the admitted turn and preserves history. |
app.tsx | Observe the application and render text and explicit controls. |
The default endpoint is the same-origin /ag-ui/streaming/agent. Runtime configuration can supply a developer endpoint. The model and provider credentials remain in the backend.
Understand one turn
The first Send creates a local UUID and session lazily. The application preserves native history for confirmed follow-ups. A successful terminal root must match the owned thread and run evidence and the admitted message history.
This text-only fixture refuses unsupported tools, decisions, or children instead of pretending to execute them. Stop, uncertain results, and unsupported observations require explicit recovery; there is no automatic replay or reconnect.
A local UUID is not a saved-history guarantee. Continue with Architecture, then use the separate tool views or interrupts examples for those capabilities.
